LIGHT FABRIC
2008
- Concept ideation, prototype fabrication, graphic design
The light fabric project is mainly a material exploration into the potential usage of an experimental fabric. Produced by textile designer Elizabeth Whelan the innovative fabric utilizes insulated copper wire to replace thread at regular intervals. As a proof of concept and function I produced the design of the graphic and wiring diagram. Each incandescent bulb was then hand-soldered to create the graphic.
Every two insulated wires are designated as either positive or negative. The incandescent bulbs bridge a single wire and then connect the positive and negative lines.
