WHISPER WIND

 2014

Whisper Wind is one of only two prototypes designed and fabricated for Konica Minolta in support of their new OLED panels. While the OLED units themselves were provided by the Japanese company Ingo Maurer himself created the concept.

Each lamp consists of 25 OLEDs attached to a double-sided steel stem via magnets. The steel provides the 'branch' structure while also serving as power conductor for the individual light sources.

As a very important and detail critical project I was mainly involved in both progressing Ingo's concept and fabrication of both lamps. I was instrumental in the development of the construction method and hand fabricated each of the 50 independent power connectors.
